Subcommittee on Multimedia and Database
Facilities to Support Instruction

Charge
Bring scenarios and/or recommendations to the Council on:
- the necessary level of support for appropriate aspects of instructional technology
- which units should provide which types of support and how they will be funded
- how access to these services will be regulated
- how any changes will be implemented.
Appropriate aspects of instructional technology in this context include: class Web pages and sites, including the Web servers; multimedia production for in-class presentations or replacement materials; and course management.
The subcommittee may recruit one additional member if it desires but does not need to do so. The subcommittee should meet with appropriate members of the Campus community and beyond as part of the subcommittee deliberations.

Timetable
Interim report to September meeting of AC4.
Final report to November meeting of AC4.
The subcommittee will be dissolved on presenting the final report unless the Council and the subcommittee agree on a role for the subcommittee in the implementation stage and/or the Council requests additional recommendations or modeling.
The Council agreed that the subcommittee should not attempt to provide detailed proposals on related issues such as: training, access, special issues related to courses offered to non-resident students, email, and classroom facilities.
Staff support is available to the subcommittee.
