Online Course Approval System Task Group


CHARGE TO THE GROUP: DRAFT

The purpose of the CCFIT Online Course Approval System Task Group is to:

  1. Get familiar with enhancements that were recently made to the course approval application.
  2. Identify key remaining business needs and functionality issues (e.g., integration with Degree Navigator, Banner, the General Course Catalog, etc.).
  3. Consult with appropriate parties to prioritize needs
  4. Make recommendations to guide the next phase of enhancements for the UC Davis Online Course Approval System.

The Academic Senate and the University Registrar are co-owners of the course approval process and function as partners in the review process and ongoing needs of the system.

The task group should seek input on the nature and scope of the next phase of improvements to the Online Course Approval System from key campus constituencies and groups, including faculty (Senate and Federation), the Registrar's Office, Academic Senate, Information and Educational Technology, etc.

This group will meet during Winter and Spring 2006. Findings and recommendations will be presented to the Registrar's Office and to CCFIT, and a report will be given at the June 12th meeting of CCFIT.

Administrative support will be provided through the Registrar's Office (to be confirmed).

     c. Academic departments' needs

2. Scope for Phase Two of the Online Course Approval System
     - Functional requirements
     - Priorities
3. Implementation approach
     - Roles & responsibilities (e.g., sponsorship, technical enhancements, functional
       enhancements, ongoing maintenance, funding, etc.)
     - Budget estimates
